Doyle D. Sanders is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and practices primarily in wills, trusts, estate planning, and probate law.

Mr. Sanders is a native of Vinton, Iowa, and has lived in Johnston and practiced law in Des Moines and Johnston since 1977 when his four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate Corps ended.

Doyle received his Bachelor of Arts (1969), Masters of Business Administration (1972), and Doctor of Jurisprudence with Honors (1972), from Drake University. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Iowa Supreme Court, the Nebraska Supreme Court, both of the United States District Courts in Iowa, the 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Tax Court.

As an active member of the Iowa State Bar Association Probate Section, Doyle has served on the Section Council and has drafted proposed legislation as chair of the Estate Tax Apportionment Committee, and as a member of the Probate Fee Committee and the Small Estates Committee.  He is also a regular on the ISBA Probate Section Legislation Committee.

His interest in charitable giving and how it can be implemented in estate planning led him to assist in the founding of the Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council.  He frequently lectures on estate planning issues to lay persons and other professionals.

He is a member of the American Bar Association Probate and Trust Law Section and the ABA Tax Law Section and the Wealth Transfer Planning group of estate planning lawyers.  He is also a long time member of the Mid-Iowa Estate and Financial Planners Club and is a former president of the Iowa Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and of the National Life Share Association and its Foundation.

Doyle served on the Johnston Community School District Board of Directors for 12 years and helped found the Johnston School Foundation and Johnston Community Education Program.  His “hobby” is coaching in the Iowa State Bar Association’s Law Related Education Middle School and High School Mock Trial programs at Johnston where his teams have placed in the top ten in the state almost every year since 1990.  In November 2006, they won the Middle School State Championship.
